A Remarkable Achievement Made at the DMZ

A Remarkable Achievement Made at the DMZ

After winding up the G-20 summit held in Osaka, Japan, the US President Donald Trump visited South Korea in the evening on June 29, 2019, and the very next day he carried out what he had offered through Tweet North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un to meet at the Demilitarized Zone.

Despite the fact that President Trump actually tweeted the NK authoritarian leader an invitation to just shake hands, President Donald Trump as the first sitting US president in history stepped over the world뭩 most heavily fortified border into North Korean territory. And he even had a fifty-minute-long summit talks with Kim Jong-un at the Freedom House in the South.

It was truly a historic event not only for the entire South Koreans but also the world people, which, therefore, deserves our enthusiastic welcome and applause. However, we South Koreans were somewhat disappointed by the US president뭩 comments made at a press conference after the event.

He said "there have been no recent ballistic missile tests by North Korea."

He added "there had been some very small ones but they were missile tests which every country does." we don't consider that a test. We are talking about long range missile tests."

We, the South Koreans felt uncomfortable with President Trump's comments because it sounded like selfish paying little attention to NK's continued threat towards the South as if it were beneath his notice.

Nevertheless, we would like to look forward to a successful result to be stemmed from the recent surprising event and hope that North Korea shall implement Washington's demand for complete, verifiable and irreversible dismantlement (CVID) of its projects sooner or later.

In three days, Americans will enjoy the 243rd Independence Day. On this wonderful occasion, we all wish you Americans a Happy Independence Day.

God Bless America!!
