In South Korea, we observe Memorial Day on June 6 every year. On this Memorial Day I first visited the tomb of the late general Chae, Myung-shin, former ROKV commander, for whom I had worked as his last aid until he passed away on November 25, 2013.

As I have always done, I paid my respects with my slow hand salute and prayed for his RIP. In front of the general’s tomb, a sizable memorial wreath was placed that was dedicated by the Korean Vietnam veterans living in Fort Lee, New Jersey, USA. The Korean veterans said “Commander, we miss you so much”. So do I.
