The Ties that Bind: Combined Headquarters

Thoughts on disbanding CFA and CFC. An alliance like a marriage requires constant attention. An alliance that is just on paper sows the seeds for the separation of views, thoughts, and actions. Whereas a an alliance that has structure and daily interactions sows the seeds of a long and fruitful approach to mutual challenges. Combined Headquarters ensure that the goals of the organization are constantly improved and internalized by the members of the organization. In the end the staff officers and NCOs from both countries throughout the organization know the the commander's intent. Such an organization, like a marriage, remains strong and works to eliminate any chance of a divergence of effort by either party. What does eliminating the combined HQs indicate with respect to the future of US and ROK ties? That is the question I have no answer for? I know what is in my heart, but only the political leadership can answer this adequately. Would love to hear any comments or thoughts on this subject.

Hi, Jim, What a great approach it is to compare an alliance to a marriage!
Posting a photo of two couples, Korean and American, who also happen to have served together at Combined Field Army as Operations Chief and Deputy.

I hope we can hear many good ideas and opinions about the future of USA and ROK ties, especially the Combined Forces Command, which was originally planned for deactivation as of 17 April 2012.
